That phrase used to be my personal anthem.
This morning I was thinking about time—and how it’s the most precious gift we have here on earth.
Lately, it has seemed that my time is extremely limited with all of the things that I have going on. However, I had to realize that it will pass us by if we don’t seize it. You see….
Money? You can make more.
Things? You can replace them.
Even lost opportunities sometimes circle back.
But time? Once it’s spent, it’s gone.
I remember when I was just stepping into leadership—my calendar was booked, my brain was scrambled, and my response to nearly everything outside of a meeting invite was: “I don’t have time.”
But if I’m honest, I did have time—I just wasn’t leading it well.
The truth is, as leaders, we’re not just managing projects—we’re managing moments. Moments that shape trust, build culture, and develop people. And while it may feel like everything is urgent, not everything is important.
So here’s what helped me shift from being busy to being intentional: 3 Quick Tips for Leading with Time in Mind:
⏳ 1. Audit What’s Taking vs. Giving
Review your calendar. Circle what drains you and highlight what develops
others. You might be surprised what’s stealing your time.
🧭 2. Create “White Space” On Purpose
Schedule time for unscheduled moments. That’s where your best conversations, insights, and connections happen. People don’t always need a meeting—they need a moment.
🫱🏾🫲🏽 3. Treat Relationships Like Deliverables
Don’t wait until a crisis to connect. Leading people means leading with people. Prioritize relationship-building like you would any high-priority task.
Reflection for Today:
It’s not that we don’t have time.
It’s that we sometimes forget why we should make it.
Lead your time. Or it will lead you.
Now, drop a comment: What’s one way you’ve reclaimed your time as a leader?
Let’s be intentional and impactful with our time.
